Livingstone Youth Town Hall brings together over 400 young people

Over 400 youth from across Livingstone gathered for a vibrant Town Hall graced by Hon. Elvis Nkandu, Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts, who was accompanied by Hon. Credo Nanjuwa, Southern Province Minister, Mr. Kangwa Chileshe, Permanent Secretary, and Her Worship Constance Muleabai, Mayor of Livingstone.
Hon. Nkandu urged young people to take advantage of the various youth empowerment initiatives being implemented by government such as the multi sectoral empowerment programmes under his Ministry, CDF under the local authorities and SAFF loans under Ministry of Agriculture. He called upon the youth to repay loans responsibly and embrace a mindset change built on discipline and responsibility. He further highlighted NYDC’s role in linking youth to affordable loans and various other youth empowerment initiatives implemented by government and the private sector.

The Minister announced plans to construct an ultra-modern stadium in Livingstone to boost sport, talent, and economic growth.
He stressed that youth empowerment was not just about access to funds but using opportunities wisely, and emphasized the importance of sharing the right information to guide youth in shaping their future.
He thanks the NYDC for creating a platform for the youth to access relevant information for their development. He also thanks all partners that made the Townhall possible, one of whom was SNV Zambia.
The Town Hall proved that when youth are informed and empowered, Zambia’s future shines brighter!
